It was dark. Low-hanging clouds and smoke from the burning buildings covered the sky entirely. Ashes were falling in thick, light flakes. Like snow. Only to disappear in the bloody mud the meadow had turned into, under thousands of soldiers’ feet. The battle raged all around and at that moment it was impossible to tell who was winning. The only sure thing was the thickness of the air, the swing of the sword in an aching arm, a sudden quake of the earth. A tremble that grew and spread, toppling the man and orcs alike as the epicenter bulged out, and what emerged was a thing the nightmares were made of. The Wyrm, its sickly purplish body was solid three yards in circumference, over a dozen in length and more still hidden underground. Its weight alone crushed any of the forces in its way and when it opened the mouth full of razor-sharp teeth the last desperate sparkle of hope faded and died.
